Recreating Your Laundry to Maximise Space

A laundry room is often one of the smallest rooms in the house but also one of the most used. When you’re considering the layout, think about ways to accommodate your appliances, which are often large and cumbersome. Remember that once you install your appliances, there is very little space to move around, so the priority is to ensure its clutter free by maximising storage solutions and making full use of laundry cabinets. A laundry room can come in all shapes and sizes but its practical to have two entrances, one which leads to an internal room and the other which leads outside to your washing line

Custom Cabinets and Cupboards

The key to any successful laundry is to minimise mess and cabinets can ensure that everything is neatly hidden away. Here at KBL Remodelling we use only quality products.  The soft closing hinge mechanism on all our cabinets and cupboards are made by Blum, which is a German company, renowned worldwide for its quality products. Create more space by putting laundry cabinets above a bench for storing linen toilet rolls and wash powder.  We suggest leaving a gap between the bench and cabinets of at least 650mm. Don’t forget that taller laundry cupboards can have hanging rails for shirts and dresses to minimise creasing.

Appliances and Bench Space

A large bench area provides so much versatility for folding away laundry and means that baskets full of odd socks and clothes won’t become an eyesore and dumped on a kitchen table waiting to be organised. If you have front loading appliances, stack your drier on top of your washing machine as by doing this you’ll be creating extra storage room. They also look extremely tidy one above the other, and may offer you that extra space for a slimline laundry cabinet for an ironing board. Another option is to have an all in one washer/dryer, which means it’s just one appliance instead of two.

Thinking Outside the Box

More people are realising the advantages of hiding away laundry baskets so that they are concealed inside cabinets. Laundry baskets have always been a bit of an eyesore, piled high with dirty clothes so this is a great solution for keeping them out of sight.
